The Macodes petola is a mesmerising jewel orchid prized for its emerald leaves with electric gold veining resembling lightning strikes. Thriving in high humidity (75-90%) and warm 22-28°C temperatures, this terrestrial species grows best in sealed terrariums with minimal light (500-800 lux). Unlike most orchids, its tiny white flowers are secondary to the spectacular foliage that shimmers under proper lighting. Grow in acidic sphagnum moss (pH 5.5-6.5), watering with rainwater to prevent leaf spotting. Due to over-collection from the wild, ensure you purchase only lab-propagated specimens to support conservation efforts while enjoying this living artwork.
Please note that these care instructions are based on general guidelines for Macradenia multiflora and may need adjustments based on your specific growing conditions and observations of your plant's health and behavior.
