The Phalaenopsis Memoria Val Rettig (peloric form) is a rare mutated hybrid where the lip mimics petals, creating striking 6-8cm white flowers with pink-purple pseudo-petals. This medium-sized orchid (30-40cm) requires stable 20-28°C temperatures and medium light (1,500-2,500 lux) to maintain its unique mutation. While peloric forms are unstable in propagation (often reverting in seed-grown plants), meristem-cultured clones preserve this collector's item quality. Water when roots turn silvery, and avoid temperature swings during spike development to maximize the mutation's expression. Its limited commercial availability makes it a prized specimen for mutation enthusiasts.
